Cityscape

these crooked lifeless
trees have cracked

the sky now broken
by the faultlines

and power lines
crossing center stage

in the gloaming
of a quiet picture tube

asleep for thirty seconds
so numb the purple

light that comes
from nowhere

fills the air
with ghostly presence

looming like the weight
of every restless night

we choose to wonder
